Latest Updates from Our Project:

New Artwork | Development
over 1 year ago – Wed, Jul 31, 2024 at 09:47:17 AM

We have new artwork from Jennifer Lange for the scenario “On the Same Boat”:

We also have several new portraits from Hsiang:

Since our last update, we improved the scenarios by adding extra content focused on enhancing campaigns played from the perspective of alternative player factions, including the Green Gang and the Chinese Communist Party.

We then sent all chapters out for a final historical and cultural review and final line edits. We conducted an extensive word-count analysis, which impacts layout.  We also completed drafting the full-page map of Nanjing:

Moving forward, we turn our focus preparing pre-generated characters, commissioning further portraits, building the Keeper’s Kit, and laying out the book.

The Pre-Order store is now open. Please tell your friends who missed the Kickstarter that they can now preorder their copy of The Sassoon Files book and Keeper’s Kit in the presales store!

We will contact Backers at the Bon Vivant level about your portrait and character ideas ln the next 2 weeks. Please keep a look out for messages from us so that we can promptly commission your portraits.

Since the Kickstarter completion we have commissioned two new full-page art pieces, put two new sections into editing, and started adding extra content into all sections of the book. We’ve also been working hard to flesh out the Campaign Benefactor narratives. In the next three weeks, we will focus on readying all textual content for layout. We will also work with Backers to create excellent pregen portraits.

We are thrilled to announce that our Kickstarter campaign has successfully concluded, thanks to the incredible support and generosity of our backers. We're deeply grateful to everyone who pledged and supported us along the way.

Your support is vital to us as a small business, enabling us to create products we are passionate about. We'll work to ensure that the final product meets your expectations, and we'll keep you updated on our progress.

We played "Strange Gates, Hidden Demons" on the last night of KS with friends (while also drinking wiskey. From left: Mick, Erik, Jesse, Nova (on the screen), Jason, and Tristan.

In the coming weeks, we will send out surveys via a pledge manager site to collect your shipping information and other important details. Please keep an eye out for these surveys and respond promptly to ensure the timely delivery of your rewards. The Keeper’s Kit and extra books will be available at the pledge manager site, along with copies of our "Blessed and the Blasphemous" and "Journal d’Indochine" books.

Shortly after, you will receive the PDF version of the book. We will then make final adjustments to the PDF and send it for printing. Production of the Keeper’s Kit will commence around the same time. We aim to deliver the printed book and set before the end of November.

We want to share with our friends, allies, and Backers some of our plans as we grow as a company. Beyond finishing "The Sassoon Files, 2nd Edition," we have several exciting projects in the pipeline.

The next book, codenamed “Chaofan” (炒饭, stir-fried rice), is a post-apocalyptic wuxia-Western fusion themed historical “Down Darker Trails” campaign set during the Taiping Re-bellion in 1860s China. Following this, we will publish “Heaven is Red,” (天国红) a science-fiction campaign set on Mars, critiquing communism and exploring self-identity. Additionally, we are developing a board game to complement a Japan-themed campaign book, published by our strategic partner.

On the organizational side, we are developing our “Singularity Drivers” program to better support and develop allied writers, content developers, and convention-floor playtesters.

Thank you again for your support and for believing in our project. We couldn't do it without you, and we look forward to sharing our journey with you.

Sincerely,

The Sons of the Singularity Team

Great World Center Reached | 24 hours to finish
almost 2 years ago – Sat, Jun 08, 2024 at 04:40:09 PM

We crossed the 50K mark, Great World. “Great World” was a raunchy, bawdy, and yet traditional entertainment center for the whole family, where kids could by ice-cream, sex workers scouted out customers, actors performed scenes from Journey West, and every manner of food were hawked along the four stories of baroque balconies.

By reaching this stretch goal, we can commission at least 2 new full-page art pieces from Jennifer Lange and Carlos Cara. Jennifer worked with us on the first Sassoon Files book, creating the Peacock’s Eye piece, and Carlos started working with SOS on the Blessed and the Blasphemous book.

We are also including art from extraordinary artist Susan Sheets:

"The Sassoon Files," our first published book, now approaches the final 24 hours of its Kickstarter for the second edition. Leveraging five years of publishing experience, we aim to transform our debut work into something far better and bigger than before. Jason, Jesse, and all our allies and contributors are incredibly excited to complete this project and extremely grateful for the enthusiasm of our Backers. The stars are right, the end is near; please help us finish up strong.

48 Hours to Go | Pulp Profits | Campaign Map | Fengshui Mirror
almost 2 years ago – Fri, Jun 07, 2024 at 04:50:27 PM

We’re down to the final 48 hours of our Kickstarter campaign! We're thrilled about the product we're delivering to our amazing backers. Help us spread the word and make this final push a success!

Our esteemed writer, Andrew Logan Montgomery, currently the International Guest-of-Honor at ChaosiumCon Australia, is crafting an exciting scenario, “Pulp Profits.” Known for the best-seller Runequest book “Six Seasons of Sartar,” Andrew’s new work is now a $60K stretch goal. If we fall short, it will still be included as a digital reward.

The campaign map is complete! It’s a full two-page spread (17x11 inches) detailing points of interest in the Shanghai International Settlement, French Concession, and Old Chinese City. Available digitally and printed on the back of the Evidence Board in the Keeper’s Kit, it also features a tracking method for the Shanghai City Risk Counter.

A fengshui mirror is now part of the Keeper’s Kit, designed for use with the “When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do” scenario.

Let’s make these last 48 hours count! Thank you for your support!
